 This entire bracelet consists of Amethyst - yes, even the golden beads, commonly marketed as Citrine. Here’s the thing, and I’m sorry for breaking your heart: true Citrine is honey colored, and isn’t exactly rare but it’s not common either. And the real deal is PRICY, rightly so. Which means that nobody is intentionally making beads out of this mineral - at least, not in the amount that is currently saturating the market. (I’m sure there are genuine Citrine beads out there, but they should be $40-$50 a strand AT LEAST.) Instead, lower quality Amethyst is baked at high temperatures to get that golden color. In fact, this is how Citrine naturally forms in the earth. Now, I have no problem with this as long as sellers are knowledgeable and honest. (But most aren’t.) So the next time you see garishly yellow “Citrine” beads, beware. Now that that’s outta the way:

Amethyst is a beautiful, powerful, highly protective crystal. It has been used for millennia in all sorts of ways. In ancient times it lined the inside of drinking chalices to ward off drunkenness!
